Discover how transit agencies can leverage GIS for data-driven planning and systemwide strategies. LACMTA analyses multimodal travel patterns, equity indices, demographics, and Mobility Hub initiatives to reduce vehicle miles travelled and expand regional mobility for the 2028 Olympics and beyond. NJ TRANSIT’s LAND Plan transforms its first real-property geodatabase into revenue, using site-suitability analysis and 3D visualizations to generate housing, jobs, and other wins. Attendees will leave with actionable ArcGIS workflows for sustainable, community-focused transit and mobility planning.

- LACMTA Multi-modal Mode Change Campaign
In 2023, Metro’s TDM team launched a study to evaluate commuter behavior, existing programs, and develop data-driven strategies to reduce VMT and promote multimodal mobility across LA County. Using Esri analysis, the plan identified a need to expand beyond commute trips and engage communities through education and incentives. The TDM Master Plan introduces five initiatives—Mobility Hub Activation, Multimodal Kids, Transit Corridor Zones, On-Demand Shared Mobility, and Transit Tourism—aimed at achieving a 20% VMT reduction by 2028.

- NJ TRANSIT Uses GIS to Inform Their $1.9B Revenue-Generating LAND PlanHow can NJ TRANSIT strategically use its underutilized properties to generate long-term, non-farebox revenue while delivering public benefits? The LAND Plan aims to unlock up to $1.9B in revenue by leveraging its 8,000-acre real estate portfolio. Using GIS, the agency created its first real property geodatabase from which Arup developed a site suitability model and 3D designs, with HR&A Advisors leading the financial analysis. The plan identifies opportunities in transit-oriented development, retail, solar, wetland banking, and more, generating recurring income and public benefit.
