Digital Twins Set the Foundation for Efficient Operations
GIS-based digital twins are the standard for maintaining facilities, passenger safety, work orders, lease and asset management. In this session, see how two major hub airports are operating generating and leveraging a digital twin to manage their operations. One of the airports is scanning their facilities to generate floor plans into BIM for better space management, lease accuracy, and improving sustainability. Another airport is integrating multiple asset management systems into GIS as one unified platform for work orders and wayfinding, setting the foundation for their digital twin.

  • Scan-BIM-Floor Plans and Ultimately a Digital Twin

    Airports often struggle with outdated floor plans, leading to inaccurate leased space charges. Massport’s scan-to-BIM initiative solves this by using laser scanning to create precise building models. These models ensure accurate square footage and volume calculations. Integrated with Esri technology, Massport can now extract reliable floor plans for all facilities, improving space management, leasing accuracy, and operational planning. By having accurate sq footage and volume data we can incorporate this into our NetZero Models as well.
