- Electrical Grid Shutdown Planning with the ArcGIS Utility Network
Modern power grids require continuous maintenance and upgrades to meet growing demands. This project addresses the challenge of planning and coordinating shutdowns while minimizing customer impact. Built on ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Utility Network, our React application enables operators to plan outages by assigning switching operations to UN network elements, which allows network traces to identify the affected customers and infrastructure. The system also automates the notification of affected customers, ensuring all affected residents receive advance notice of the precise outage timings.

- Mapping the Future: The Role of GIS in the Great Grid UpgradeThe Great Grid Upgrade; a major shift in Electricity Transmission, aiming to enhance energy security, integrate renewables, and deliver economic benefits. Over the next 7 years, the UK must build 5 times the electricity transmission infrastructure compared to the past 30 years. Our GIS strategy tackles historical inefficiencies by establishing a collaborative platform and rigorous data standards to support planning, design, and asset management. This initiative streamlines operations with proactive maintenance and improved data integrity, ultimately enhancing service quality for our customers.
