The Flood Impact Platform was developed in response to the major flooding event that affected more than 160,000 residents of Porto Alegre in May 2024. This event exposed major vulnerabilities in both infrastructure and social support systems. The platform utilizes ArcGIS and the ESRI Disaster Response Program to deliver an integrated and spatially-informed view of flood impacts. By supporting evidence-based decision-making, the platform contributes to building social resilience and equipping communities to better withstand the increasing frequency and severity of climate-related disasters.
