- Implementation of the ArcGIS Utility Network: From a System of Records to System of Engagements
In 2024, Águas e Energia do Porto, E.M. implemented the ArcGIS Utility Network solution, a process that went beyond just database and cadastral changes. It involved a paradigm shift, strengthening the role of GIS in the organisation. The process included migrating over 2000 km of linear network, 290,000 point elements, more than 20 meetings with all areas, 100+ hours of training for designers and GIS technicians, and internal capacity building. The company is now better prepared, with a robust UN and a more collaborative GIS system.

- Using ArcGIS Field Maps for As-Built Asset Registration in Esri’s ArcGIS Utility Network
Pidpa is responsible for delivering drinking water and wastewater services in the province of Antwerpen, Belgium. Tensing and Pidpa are long-term partners and implemented the ArcGIS Utility Network 4 years ago. Recently, a next step is taken in as-built-registration using high-precision GPS devices, coupled with ArcGIS Field Maps to collect 3D asset measurements when assets are put in the ground; by both internal crews and external contractors.
In this presentation we explain the complete business process set up as well as the business case through key numbers on project costs and benefits.
