Transportation agencies all share a common requirement to connect their large field crews to the back office, to maintain the currency of their data. These two examples highlight the use of Esri mobile technology to easily and quickly capture data in the field, not only to update corporate databases, but also to update public communication.

- Post Construction Temporary Control Measure (PCTCM) Removal ImprovementAfter a CDOT construction project has been completed and the required re-vegetation of the site has been met, the removal of the Post Construction Temporary Control Measures (PCTCM) is the final and often most overlooked step. These PCTCMs become pollutants since they are no longer needed and do not function properly. The Region Water Pollution Control Managers (RWPCM) are responsible in working with Maintenance for the removal of the PCTCMs. By combining CDOTs GeoHub, Offline Mapping, and ESRIs Field Maps App a solution that is accurate and easy for both RWPCMs and Maintenance was created.

- Tracking De-Icing Routes with QuickCaptureWhen cold weather creates icy conditions, Harris County Toll Road Authority deploys de-icing trucks to treat bridges and overpasses. By utilizing QuickCapture, the HCTRA Roadway Operations team now has the ability of tracking treated routes in rea, giving them the ability to make strategic based decisions with the data collected in the field. HCTRA is also using Quick Capture to record de-icing material stock piles located throughout the system. This information flows into Dashboard where field managers can see routes on the map symbolized by time treated as well as stockpile inventory.
