Lightning Talks: Emergency Management
Presentations
- Enhancing Community Resilience with the Climate Risk and Resilience PortalThe Climate Risk and Resilience Portal (ClimRR) provides future climate data to help plan for and adapt to a changing world. ClimRR models over 60 climate variables to provide free dynamically downscaled projections for the United States. ClimRR’s latest updates emphasize its integration of state-of-the-art dynamical downscaling techniques into community resilience efforts. These enhancements transform how emergency management professionals, community planners, and other SLTT governments access and apply climate data to respond and mitigation the disasters of the future.

- Coast Guard’s Use of Enterprise Solutions for UAS Fleet Management and Operational Data Management
The Short-Range Unmanned Aircraft Systems (SR-UAS) Program was established in January of 2023. By leveraging the Enterprise software from ESRI, the SR-UAS team was able to overcome budget, procedural and policy hurdles to establish a Fleet Management Tool. The tool served as a pilot flight logbook and aircraft tracking system to meet FAA mandated regulations. The tool was further leveraged to streamline operational data flows to leadership, test developing Coast Guard data policies and provide a vehicle for a novel DHS cybersecurity pathway for image transfer from UAS to a government network.

- Understanding the Disaster: Community Lifelines Status System (CLSS)In partnership with the Department of Homeland Security, Science & Technology Directorate (DHS S&T), G&H International, Inc. and the Central U.S. Earthquake Consortium (CUSEC) are working together to develop a disaster response and recovery tool known as the Community Lifelines Status System (CLSS). CLSS operationalizes FEMA’s Community Lifelines construct, which was first introduced in 2018. This presentation will give an overview of how CLSS is being developed to provide communities with a no-cost tool to help quickly assess the impacts of a disaster and to support lifeline stabilization.
