- Assessing the Effectiveness of OER Materials in GIS CoursesThe GIS certificate program at Kennesaw State University was created in 1998. The GIS/GSS degree program was added a few years later. We have always used ESRI/ArcGIS software to teach out GIS courses. For many years, we used ESRI Press textbooks and tutorials to teach the course content. Starting in 2018, several faculty members decided to stop using textbooks and create and curate open educational resources (OER) instead. Over the years, we started using OER materials in four of our courses. This presentation reflects on the experience and success of using OER materials in GIS courses.

- Developing a Workplace GIS Education PlanWith a variety of GIS users and a small central support team, educating our employees is a priority. Support calls are often areas in need of better understanding of the technology, data, and/or processes. Annual GIS training plans are developed with offerings for the well-seasoned GIS analyst to the brand-new intern to ensure success with all our GIS projects.
