Providing users with easily accessible spatial data is becoming essential, but challenges include limited available data, numerous layers, maintaining data and nontechnical users. In this case, a customized Web-application for the Recreation Services Department is built for all level of users to support inventory, maintenance, the master plan, and planning and development. Users interact with data on a map and more with configurable widgets, automated scale-rendering, and customized pop-ups to provide a powerful and appealing user experience with minimal technical skills.

Tennessee State Parks developed a framework for a holistic GIS approach to Park Management. Two years into this initiative, 100+ field staff now utilize “One Smart Park” - a Swiss-Army knife of an ArcGIS Field Map containing all the pre-configured forms and layers to do daily work and long-term resource management through GIS. This presentation highlights GIS success stories from Tennessee State Parks while explaining the tech behind the One Smart Park concept. Examples include invasive species management, prescribed fire, signage and accessibility inventories attainable with One Smart Park.
