Road Information and Management Systems combine GIS, LRS and database technology to provide a versatile technological back bone for road authorities world-wide. These ArcGIS Road & Highways-based systems are the primary data source for many thousands of kilometers of road data. Functionality includes editing, versioning, analysis as well as quality assurance. They support a wide variety of processes such as road maintenance, winter services and heavy transport management. This ensures that the investments in data and technology are futureproof in a rapidly changing IT environment.

- The new road database “SIB-Bayern” for Bavaria’s State Building AdministrationThe new road database, “SIB-Bayern”, will replace the current system which is at the heart of “BAYSIS” – the Bavarian Road Information System. BAYSIS is a central information platform as well as the primary data source for more specialized road information software. The new road database uses the Roads and Highways extension for ArcGIS. Major custom development by VertiGIS was necessary to allow for the German node-edge-model, additional objects, and the stationing system. Add. Customization was necessary to allow for special requirements concerning event behavior, history, and versioning.
