2024 Proceedings

The presentation focuses on the transformation of district heating and gas networks and electricity distribution network through digital twins. It will address how to improve asset data collection and develop maintenance and investment strategies. The presentation addresses challenges such as inaccurate data, operational change needs and limited resources, and offers innovative solutions such as rapid deployment, continuous learning and effective software integration. It stresses the need to further develop asset management and highlights the importance of training and collaboration to realise the full potential of the system.

At Netze BW, which is one of the largest distribution grid operators in Germany, belonging to EnBW, we developed a Web app, in which technicians can digitally record vegetation inspection activities. Instead of writing information on paper, all 450 technicians now digitally record trees that have grown too close to the power lines. In 2024 our focus is on integrating remote sensing such as satellite and LiDAR analysis to further automate the inspection process.
