Geodesign embraces open-ended design principles, emphasizing flexibility in the face of uncertainties. Illustrated with a case study from Georgia Tech’s Comprehensive Campus Plan, this presentation aims to inspire strategies for keeping a master plan open - even after the project is finished. GT’s bespoke tool benchmarks current state, the preferred master plan scenario, and new projects against sustainability, resiliency, and planning goals. Ultimately, we invite conference attendees to explore how such tools can be tailored and applied in diverse contexts for enduring success.

Private and public utilities are preparing climate adaptation strategies for existing and new infrastructure. The trick is how to move from a single-sector, siloed approach to a more holistic approach, that saves time and money while turning good projects into great projects. To do this we implemented a geodesign methodology to support alternative scenario analysis across multiple domains including construction conflict, social vulnerability, environmental impact, conservation, natural hazards, and threat-risk due to aging infrastructure. 

The development of an Urban Forest Management Plan (UFMP) encompasses several essential steps. From the analysis of the current condition of the urban forest to community engagement to incorporating city priorities, the UFMP provides a comprehensive framework for managing and enhancing the urban forest, promoting sustainability, and preserving the unique character of the city.
