- Data-Driven, GIS Approaches for Food Banks to Site Charitable Food DistributionsFood banks play a critical role in combatting food insecurity by distributing food to those in need. Numerous studies cite the benefits of food banks in improving outcomes, yet few have sought to examine the extent to which emergency food providers are meeting the needs of the communities they serve. Using data from mobile food distributions in the Battle Creek, MI area we develop a Suitability Model to visualize the distance clients travel to food distribution sites to show the reach from those distributions and provide insights on where future distributions could be placed.

- Emergency Department Travel Times in CanadaA key priority to meet Canada’s health and social policy agenda is the requirement for equal access to primary and secondary health services for rural population, that are diverse and aging, requiring forever morphing healthcare services. Travel time to hospitals is a key measure of accessibility, impacting a patient experience and attitudes towards the health care system, types of services they can receive, and health outcomes. Our project used ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro resources to explore small area travel time to hospital resources to develop a profile of healthcare accessibility.
