Two things all jurisdictions deal with is redistricting and environmental hazards. This session shows how the State of TN helped all their jurisdictions through this process and how NOAA engaged Esri technology to depict Algae blooms in readily digestable visualizations.

The State of Tennessee underwent its decennial redistricting process in 2021-2022. It is during this time that Legislative and Local districts are changed to reflect population growth and decline. While the legislature is tasked with redistricting the legislative districts, the Comptroller’s office is tasked with assisting local officials in their redistricting process. Come see how the Comptroller’s office overcame Census delays and was able to assist local elected officials in meeting their statutorily deadline on redistricting and the Boundary and Annexations Survey (BAS).

- Animating Harmful Algal Blooms Using Multidimensional Rasters
A major environmental concern for Florida and a growing number of places across the world is the occurrence of harmful algal blooms. Using ArcGIS Pro, Python, and raster data from NOAA's National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science, we can animate these blooms over time to help better illustrate long-term trends. This presentation will break down the steps involved in creating an animation for Lake Okeechobee, Florida—including the use of multidimensional rasters, some nifty cloud cover symbology, and the temporal profile tool—which you can adapt for your own animation project needs.
