Agenda
- Healing the Urban-Rural Divide Through Green Infrastructure
The project adopts Washington D.C.'s stormwater retention credits (SRC) to show how SRC’s can protect water quality and transfer funding from developed areas to rural communities. With Stillwater, Minnesota, as our study area, we show how SRCs can create a positive cash flow to property owners to plant 100-foot buffer strips, protecting the watershed while paying farmers to take land out of production. We show how green infrastructure offers an economically viable, politically equitable, and environmental responsible way of dealing with declining water quality and aging infrastructure.

- A River that Once was Concrete: Monitoring the Kinnickinnic River with Field Maps
MIlwaukee's once concrete-lined Kinnickinnic River was recently transformed into a flood-resilient naturalized river. To support our team who designed the riparian restoration planting plans for the river, and are charged with monitoring vegetation growth for the next 5 years, we configured FieldMaps to facilitate field work and provide real-time updates. We integrated field data into a suite of webapps hosted within a storymap rich in UAV video, site plans and renderings, and plant data that can be used both as a living report for the city and be accessible for community outreach.

- A Multi-Platform Workflow to Enhance Visual Impact Assessment in Geodesign Project
We have developed a multi-platform workflow that integrates models from CityEngine and BIM/SketchUp to be displayed in Esri Webscene with automatic customed view points to provide fast and precise visual assessment of new developments. The innovations of this workflow are two folds: 1. It creates a replicable pipeline for GIS-BIM integration; 2. The Webscene view points are created with an automatic process that customizes the webscene’s URL, instead of the traditional manual generation process. This workflow allows autumatic visual impact assessment for developments.
