- Using GIS to Regulate the Natural Gas Critical Infrastructure in Texas
In February 2021, Winter Storm Uri impacted all 254 counties in Texas. Based on concerns with the state's power grid, the Texas Legislature passed Senate Bill 3 to address weatherization preparedness along the eletrcity supply chain. The bill authorized the Texas Electricity Supply Chain Security and Mapping Committee, and enabled the Railroad Commission of Texas to create a Critical Infrastructure Division (CID) along with Rules 3.65 and 3.66 to regulate these new requirements. The division uses a variety of GIS applications and products to address its regulatory responsibilities.

- Predicting West Nile Virus Risk Zones: An Integrated GIS Approach
West Nile Virus, transmitted by culex mosquitoes, a vector-borne disease in the US. Our study leverages the powerful capabilities of ArcGIS to visualize and forecast the spatial distribution of these vectors. This effort combines Utilization of the MaxEnt ML modeling and real-time weather data, seamlessly integrated using ArcGIS and a PostgreSQL database. This bridges the gap between real time data and complex modeling using ArcGIS, an approach for better decision-making in the fight against WNV.
