Designing an offshore wind farm involves assessing many iterations of a wind turbine layout design in order to find the optimal energy production for a wind farm project. Optimising the turbine layout has proven to be one of the biggest drivers for maximising the energy production for the life of a wind farm. Many factors contribute to the design of a wind turbine layout including wind climates, sea bed conditions and permitting requirements, as well as the effect from neighbouring wind farms.
