This presentation will explore the key role GIS plays in the development, analysis and optimization of renewable energy projects, through effective mapping, spatial analysis, and decision-making support.

Powering Progress is Shell’s strategy to accelerate the transition of our business to net-zero emissions. This paper outlines how GIS and geospatial skills are relevant in support of this strategy and how the Geospatial professional can thrive in the energy transition. This presentation will demonstrate alignment by using real examples of common functions that directly translate to a New energies Project (GIS project setup, identifying coordinate reference systems, developing system architecture, data gathering and management, spatial analysis, mapping/reporting, and creating automations).
