- Comparing Satellite Object Detection Methods for Identifying Illegal RefineriesOil theft and illegal refining devastates both oil companies and civilians of the Niger delta region, Africa. Satellite imagery provides a means of monitoring or identifying difficult to access locations due to the heavy vegetation, sparse population, and vast extent of the issue. The objectives of this study are to determine and improve the accuracy and efficiency of four object detection methods and create an effective training dataset for current and future imagery analysis.

- Remote Sensing Technologies to Detect GeohazardsWe aim to present the role of geospatial technology in augmenting the pipeline aerial patrol process. We will highlight the use of advanced high-resolution aerial photography and LiDAR to capture imagery along the ROW. LiDAR processing creates a DEM of the topography, allowing for identification of potential hazards. Successive passes over the same corridor can be used to find emerging potential hazards. The presentation will also explore added applications of combining advanced imaging solutions and automated leak detection over pipeline networks to enhance risk and threat management programs
