These calculations are performed using open-source NYC data that is adjusted with 2D and 3D GIS tools. Using a ModelBuilder that implements over 100 tools, the data is joined together and manipulated to include relevant zoning attributes. This final dataset has been automated within our employee-facing portal to calculate buildable square feet on tax lots. The report results are illustrated through graphic elements, such as maps and 3D models, so that the buyer can get a comprehensive and visual understanding of the adjacent properties’ potential development. Previously this level of due diligence was principally performed in larger commercial projects, but the cost, timing and dense end product were not viable for residential transactions. The GIS data manipulation and automatized calculations has greatly reduced the manual zoning analysis portion of the research, allowing us to provide a quicker report turnaround at an even lower cost.Yes - UC2:00 p.m. Thursday, Jul 14Thursday, Jul 143D technology in GIS is changing the way commercial real estate firms are able to gather, interrogate and communicate critical property data to colleagues and clients. Bishop, Coast Community College DistrictSheri Sterner, Orange Coast CollegeStephanie Feger, Coast Community College DistrictNationwide college enrollment is on track for the largest drop on record. The number of U.S. undergraduates has fallen 6.5% since fall 2019. Community colleges with a primary mission to serve regional needs have seen the sharpest decline of 14% compared to pre-Covid enrollment numbers. Noticeably impacted are adult students and students of color who experienced the highest level of unemployment and who had the lowest enrollment trends. Community colleges capture vast amounts of data but the information is often siloed and presented in a way that does not captures insights about the communities they serve. This equity gap and the desire for needed change was not unnoticed by the leadership at Orange Coast Colleges. ArcGIS was utilized to analyze geospatially informed questions and develop maps to understand the characteristics of their communities, their community needs, and what geographical trends could inform their leadership to act in bridging these equity gaps. These findings resulted in equity informed solutions that tied into the College’s strategic planning.
