Redrawing political boundaries and addressing community air quality are initiatives the require broad community support. ArcGIS Hub and various WebGIS tools helped these organizations address state and federal requirements in a collaborative and transparent way.

Presentation 1 Abstract:
To support the development and implementation of Assembly Bill (AB) 617 (C. Garcia, Chapter 136, Statutes of 2017) Community Emissions Reduction Plans, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) developed a Geospatial Data Hub and StoryMaps tool to present community-scale emission inventories of all air pollution sources in a community. The StoryMaps tool enables data transparency and accessibility and helps build a shared understanding of existing air pollution challenges between community members, Air Districts, and CARB. The application is mobile-device friendly and available in Spanish.

Jurisdictions all over the US were required to re-draw boundaries of representative districts according to changing population geography. California elections code requires that public input be a central part of this process, so Mono County decided to solicit the most direct form of input from our citizens: the ability to draw their own map for new Board of Supervisors districts. We created a custom application to facilitate this process, and then used various ArcGIS Online products to display those maps and allow the Board to easily compare them before making a final decision.
