Presentation 1 Abstract:
U.S. Bureau of Reclamation has 350,000 acres of federal lands in the California Great Basin. With the increase in wildland fires, multiple departments and area offices need to be notified immediately via email and/or mobile text notifications. USBR created a python script to access and query ESRI’s living atlas wildland fire incidents layer within 5 miles of USBR’s lands to create a dashboard along with an automatic emergency email and mobile text alerting interagency emergency personnel.

CAL FIRE’s Southern OCC recently gave R&D a challenge: bring their current, manual aircraft tracking system into the electronic age. The Need: during incidents, a dedicated staffer is tasked with manually updating asset locations on a wall map tracker. The Opportunity: create a more efficient and timelier workflow via GIS technologies. This presentation details the Solution: a web map environment where operators plot incidents, identify and promptly move aircraft, and other functionalities.
