The North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) will be joined by four organisations to talk about the new infrastructure reporting process and how it has affected those in industry. In October 2021, the NSTA revolutionised the process for infrastructure reporting under Section 34 of the Energy Act 2018, requiring organisations to report in spatial formats and including automated QC. The NSTA has strived to ensure that it has been robust, considerate and fair and maintained open communication and collaboration where possible with reporting organisations. After presenting on why and how the process has changed (10 minutes), the NSTA will be joined by Total Energies, Xodus Group and Exprodat who will each speak (5 minutes each) about how this has impacted their workflows, their clients, and how they manage and store infrastructure data.
DEFINING ISSUE: Seismic data are used regularly throughout Equinor's value chain. Often seismic data managers are relied upon to know which seismic datasets, and the data characteristic, are available for any given area. Though a handful of both off-the-shelf and internal solutions existed, determining the company's data inventory proved difficult. Some BAs had to resort to relying on the seismic data vendor in order to determine licensing to avoid duplicate purchases and/or violating sharing agreements. GIS SOLUTION: Develop a hierarchical-structured metadata database model and a web-application for seismic data managers to maintain and analyze the company's global inventory. In realizing this goal, all seismic data consumers can easily search for available data, fully understand the data characteristics, determine where that data are loaded, and what restrictions to use the data has. This solution has positively impacted the entire seismic data value chain from acquisition to relinquishment.
